PA#9 -- The Wiki
By Sunday, 9/29, blog a paragraph describing your wiki project. The paragraph should probably come in three parts:
1. A general description of the project that acts as your topic sentence. Don't forget to give the name of your group or the names of its members.
2. An explanation of the project in somewhat more detail than the first sentence.
3. Your particular place in the project. What are your responsibilities in terms of content? Do you have any responsibilities in terms of the writing process itself (research, drafting, revision, and/ or editing)?
My wiki project for Mr. Thomas Burns' English 105 class is on the Meeks Aquatic and Recreation Center. The project itself is for me, and my three group mates, to create a wiki page about the Meeks Center. We are going to do this by each of us writing our own separate drafts on one important aspect of the Aquatic Center, edit each others drafts, and then combine them all together to form our wiki page. I am currently doing research on the events (swim meets, and outside events) that take place at the Aquatic Center. Currently, I do not believe that any of my group mates drafts are ready to be edited, and I unfortunately am stuck waiting for some schedule of events at the Aquatic Center from the Center's Head Coordinator, Mike Kroll. However, the day I receive the Center's schedule of events, I will write my dravft and have my group mates edit it.
ReplyDeleteGroup #2 Wiki Project (Gabrielle Howes, Kelly Geck, Alexis Dryier, JT Knoble)
ReplyDeleteOur group will center our project on the ghost stories, and supernatural happenings at with Ohio Wesleyan University. Each member will report on a specific "ghost story" associated with a building, hall, or dorm on campus. I will be focusing on Stuy Hall, and writing the intro and conclusion. I will also make sure the entire article flows together. The group as a whole will then look over the project and make necessary edits and revisions.
My group, group 2, consists of Gabrielle Howes, Kelly Geck, and JT Knoble. We are going to research about the haunted buildings and their ghost stories here on campus. We will each do research for the hall we were assigned, and find some ghost stories that relate to that building. For example, I am responsible for Elliott Hall and I am going to gather some background information, and discover why it is haunted in the first place. Then after we have each written our 700 words or so, we will meet as a group once again to make sure it all flows together.
ReplyDeleteThe members of Group 2 are Kelly Geck, Gabrielle Howes, Alexis Dryier, and myself. We plan to research several ghost stories and haunted buildings at Ohio Wesleyan University. My part in this project is to research Edwards Gymnasium and write about the supernatural events that have happened there. Group 2 has decided to get together to edit and revise each others work before the completion of our wiki.
ReplyDeleteGroup 1, Kyle Baum, Eric Baughman, Jemil Ahmed and myself will be writing our paper about the expansion of sports here at Ohio Wesleyan. We have decided to focus on four sports, football, baseball, women's lacrosse, and women's golf. Each of these sports has a different impact on the expansion of sports at OWU. Football was the very first sport here, while baseball has become super popular because of Branch Rickey. Women's lacrosse opened tons of new doors for women by becoming the first girl's team. Finally, women's golf is one of the most recent teams added to the list. I have been assigned to do some research about women's golf and create the conclusion. Once everyone has done their part, we will meet again to edit and revise our paper to make it the best it can be.
ReplyDeleteFor the Wiki project, I am in a group with Nick and Mackenzie. We will be writing our paper on the history of the fraternity house, Alpha Sigma Phi. We chose to write about Alpha Sigma Phi because we have heard that it has a long and interesting history. Our group only has three people, so we broke our paper down into three sections, beginning, middle, and end, and each picked a role. I chose to write the supporting paragraphs. We are all gathering research. Once everyone has completed the first draft of their part, we will meet again to put everything together and see if it fits. We will make sure everything is perfect before we submit and turn in our paper.
ReplyDeleteFor the wiki project, Group 1, also known as the Power Ranger Lifting Ligers, is putting together an informational variety of essays discussing Meek Aquatic Center. You will be able to read all about how this center has benefitted our wonderful school, the history of this facility, and all about the people that were the back-bone in the creation of Meek. My job in the production of this wiki page is to cover all of the information regarding the people who donated the money to construct this building and their backgrounds at Ohio Wesleyan.
ReplyDeleteGroup two, composed of environmental surveyors here at Ohio Wesleyan University, including: Hannah Linden, Akil Goodridge, Jade Giordani, and Lillie Enterkin, investigate into how Ohio Wesleyan maintains such an environmentally friendly campus. Not only are the various buildings being researched on how "green" they are, but also various tools around campus; recycle bins, water bottle re-fillers, etc., are being looked into for how the use of them helps increase Earth's long-term survival. My responsibility for this project's research is to look into Treehouse, one of the many small-living units on campus, and its service projects and depict how the residents of this s.l.u. help to make Ohio Wesleyan a "greener" place. The residents do this through things like responsible resource use like recycling and composting; also activities such as: gardening and sting-less bee keeping. Treehouse members have an every day lifestyle of environmentalism and is constantly helping to make the O.W.U. campus more environmentally friendly through their daily lives, and this is one of the characteristics we really want to bring out about our campus.
ReplyDeleteGroup Two's focus is on how Ohio Wesleyan University practices being environmentally friendly. The four of us: Hannah Linden, Akil Goodridge, Lillie Enterkin, and Jadé Giordani, are working on finding information and each typing up a paper about each assigned subject. My responsibilities are on the certified LEED buildings, in particular the SCSC, and the greenhouse. Once each of the drafts are complete we will meet to edit and put the pieces together on the wiki.
ReplyDeleteThe members of group 2, JT Knoble, Alexis Dryier, Gabrielle Howes, and myself, have decided to write about the ghost stories here on campus. Gabrielle will be writing about the ghosts of University Hall. Alexis will be writing about the ghosts of Elliot Hall. JT will be writing about the ghost for Edwards Gymnasium. And I will be writing about the ghosts of The Peace and Justice house. We will be finding the background information about the buildings and its hunting and explaining the different stories along with the haunting. We will be meeting this Tuesday to put it all together and to make sure it all flows.
ReplyDeleteFor this Wiki Project, Group # 3, Bella, Lindsay, and Michael, we decided to do this Wiki Project on the Shelby Stadium. This project will be based on the impact that the OWU and Ohio state football game had in both the school, and how now both schools are generously great schools. All of our parts are different; my part is to research the history of the stadium and the school. We are all coming together and making sure all of our parts flow.
ReplyDeleteMichael Mora Brenes
ReplyDeleteEnglish 105
For the Wiki project, my work group, integrated by Lindsay Snaer, Isabella Moore, Dalia Lorenzo and myself, Michael Mora, will write about the Shelby Stadium and the first Ohio State football game that took place in 1890 at Ohio Wesleyan University. Throughout the development of the essay, our purposes are to show the main conditions in which the game occurred, as well as its history. Also, we will state why that event is important for our community and what it represents nowadays. For the drafting process, we decided to divide it into 5 sections and each student is responsible for the making of one segment. Thus, in my case, I am in charge of drafting both the introduction as well as the conclusion of the essay. Finally, all of us will take part in the revising and editing processes.
The amazing Group 1 will be creating a wiki page exclusively dedicated to the quite new Meeks Aquatic Center here at Ohio Wesleyan. The team will focus on subjects such as the many uses and benefits the Center has to offer students, as well as how it was build and funded. This will be a very intriguing wiki page that should not be missed. My specific role in the group is to focus on and write about the functions and interesting physical aspects that Meeks has to offer students. The group will also include photographs in order to illustrate our points and give the reader an even better understanding of the beautiful Aquatic Center on campus.
ReplyDeleteMy group members and I have decided that we will focus on the history of Alpha Sigma Phi. I am working with Mackenzie and Andrew. My group members and I started to research the history of Alpha Sigma Phi. We found general information about Alpha Sigma Phi on the OWU website. All of my group members are responsible for research and I am responsible for drafting the Wiki page.
ReplyDeleteFor the wiki page, Group 4 will be writing about writing about the sulfer spring on campus. We decided to split it up into 4 topics, one for each group member to write about. The topics include what a sulfer spring is, history of the sulfer spring, how OWU has used it in the past, and the current status of the spring. My topic is what a sulfer spring is. I have already done a lot of research on my topic. Now I just need to physically write the paper up. We will edit and revise the papers together
ReplyDeleteIn my group the amazing sulfur group 4, Samantha Sygier, Frederick Wynne, Aaron Viscount, and myself Peter Yoshida, decided to write about the sulfur springs here at Ohio Wesleyan University. We just decided to a general history of the sulfur spring, the geology and by extension what a sulfur spring is, in current status. I am doing the history part of the essay, and working on draft 2.
ReplyDeleteGroup 4, made up by Peter Yoshida, Aaron Viscounte, Frederick Wynne, and myself, will be talking about the sulfur spring at Ohio Wesleyan University for our wiki page. We decided on separating our theme into four subtopics: what a sulfur spring is, what is the history of the sulfur spring in OWU, what benefits did the sulfur spring give OWU, and what is this sulfur spring like now. Each one of the members picked a topic to write about. In my case, I will be writing about what the sulfur spring is like right now. As for the responsibilities of each member go, apart from each writing about a topic, we will be revising and editing the other’s papers, to make sure they are in good shape to post on the web.
ReplyDeleteUpon arrival to my English class, I was told that I would be working with a group of students to write one single essay. My English professor, Tom Burns, assigned me to work with Akil Goodridge, Hannah Linden, and Lillie Enterkin. After long deliberation we decided to focus our essay on the university, Ohio Wesleyan, and how it is becoming more environmentally friendly. We brainstormed the many ways we saw how our university has made changes to the campus and not only empowered, but has also educated students to be more environmentally conscious of their decisions. I decided to focus on how our school has implemented recycling and compost around the campus. It is my responsibility to write about the recycling program and other initiatives that have been added to the campus that are accessible to the student body.

ReplyDeleteI am a part of section one, group four along with Andrew and Nick. Our wiki assignment is based on the Epsilon chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi (aka Alpha Sig) and its history here at Ohio Wesleyan University. We are trying to capture the importance of this fraternity in our project. Alpha Sig’s national philanthropy is the Lance Armstrong Foundation. However, they also support their past one, Canine and Companions for Independence, by fostering puppies for people with disabilities. The whole idea of their fraternity is “To Better the Man” with a never-ending quest of self-improvement. My job in this wiki assignment is to help Nick and Andrew with research and to do the final editing of the project.
ReplyDeleteI am a part of group 3 with Michel, Bella, Isabella, and Dalia. We are working on the first game that took place at Shelby Stadium that took place between OWU and Ohio state. We are descrbing its importance and the history of it. We are also showing what happened in the game, such as the score and important players on the team. We will say how this game has impacted our school and our football team. My part that I will be contributing is writing about the importance of this football field and the game along with helping to research and edit.
ReplyDeleteMy group, consists of Dalia, Lindsay, Michael and myself. We decided to base our Wiki project on Shelby Stadium. ReplyDeleteMy group is comprised of Carson, Alexander, Nathaniel, and myself. We have decided to discuss the topic of the Meeks Aquatic Center. Our subtopics are the different events that go on there, information about the donators, how and when it was built, and the different sports team that use Meeks other than the swimming and diving team. My subtopic is the use of Meeks by the non-swim and dive teams and how it helps them in their sports. Since the Meeks Aquatic Center is so new here at OWU, our wiki page will provide all the necessary information you need to know about the Aquatic Center.
ReplyDeleteThe name of my group is OWU Environmentally Friendly (Going Green), and it consists of Akil Goodridge, Hannah Linden, Jade Giordani, and Lillie Enterkin. We are investigating how OWU is maintaining to be eco-friendly. The college is already doing things which keep the school green such as; recycling bins, automatic lights, water re-fillers, etc,. However, we as a community can do so much more. My role in the group is to find out more about Meek Aquatic Center and see how it contributes to the environment. Everyone including me is doing their own research, drafting, revision, and editing.
ReplyDeleteThis semester Wiki Project for Professor Burns English Class is on the historical landmarks around the campus of Ohio Wesleyan, which relate to Battling Bishop Athletics. My Wiki group consists of two Student-Athletes, including myself and Beau Michel, who are members of the Battling Bishops Varsity Football team and along with two very studious ladies, both coming from homelands outside the state of Ohio. For this project, each member will explain and discuss the history behind each landmark location mentioned, relating each building structure to our Sports teams history here at our University. My duty for this wiki project is to retrieve the history of Selby Stadium and explain its importance on this campus and to the Varsity Football team.
ReplyDeleteFor the assignment given in English 105,i belong in group one that consists of my self Jemil Ahmed,Eric Baughman,Jillian Bell and Kyle Baum. We decided to write about the expansion of sports in our prestigious Ohio Wesleyan University. The work focuses on a few sports that will help us reflect the our thesis. Such as Baseball and women Lacrosse . Drafting and editing hasn't been left to one person,it's some thing we all collaborate to do together because it can reflect the thoughts of the whole group. But what's assigned as a responsibility to each of us is a specific sport and a part of the essay . For example, my specific part of the essay is the introduction and a paragraph about woman’s lacrosse.

Once we're each done writing our sections, we will edit each others until we have final copies of each subtopic.
ReplyDeleteWorking collaboratively with Jemil, Jillian, and Kyle, I helped to write about the expansion of sports at Ohio Wesleyan University. We divided the work so that each person took separate pieces of the project. We each wrote at least two paragraphs, mine being about baseball. After compiling the information into one draft, we went about revising and editing. First, we revised each individual part then made sure that it all flowed. My part in this was being in charge of holding the essay. However, we all put in effort towards our overall, combined grade.
